New Beginnings

After four years of building my brand Studio Alloo in an old office building in Amsterdam Zuid the time has come to move on. Which started as a bold idea has turned into reality.

In 2021 Studio Alloo moved into a shared space with Van Waard at the Parnassusweg. Here the studio was a place were I created textured artworks and started to collect vintage home accessories. I met Lindsay from Vintage Pareltjes in the kitchen of our floor and our love for vintage connected us immediately. When a space became available next to hers in 2023 I moved into it right away. We started to go on buying trips together and shared a big storage space.

In the two years we've been neighbors, our brands have grown and our services have expanded to include interior design advice, for example. (This deserves its own post.) Since we had to move out of our beloved spaces we started to look for a space where both of our brands could merge together while still be able to have our own style and ideas. We envisioned a space where we could display our curated vintage finds, work on interior design plans and felt like a space where you can get creative.

After a period of viewing different spaces in various parts of Amsterdam we have found ours in the West side of Amsterdam. We are exited to take over a beautiful store building, built in the 1930's. The previous owners have had an aquarium shop there since the 1970's and they lived in the rooms, one of which will now become my studio. The space is in need of some renovation work since it is a blanc canvas now.

What to expect of the new space?

From the outside of the building you will see our beautiful lit window with our latest arrivals and our personal favorites. As soon as you enter you will be amazed by Lindsays Italian lamps cascading from the high ceiling and warm teak cabinets displaying colorful vintage home accessories. As you find yourself a way to our staircase and go down you will find even more unique finds of Vintage Pareltjes. If you walk upstairs you will find Studio Alloo. My recognizable frosted glass table will be the place where I write my blogposts and update my webshop. The rest of the space will be filled with carefully curated vintage finds and handmade ceramics. The space will hold an ever changing collection of vintage (lounge) chairs and small furniture pieces. In short, there will be a lot to see and discover.

Where you can help

Since my new space will be a little bit smaller then the space I'm in now I can not take all my curated items with me. Herefore I am clearing out part of my stockroom and studio. Last week I gave away free coffee table books on Instagram. Beside this, and upcoming giveaways I add items to the 'moving out sale' page of my webshop weekly. While purchasing your unique finds at reduced prices you help me to move light and you free up budget for the renovation works in the new space. If you’d like to support this move in another way, donations are also warmly welcomed. Every bit of support helps bring this new space to life.
